A state nonprofit organization that's dedicated to working towards a peaceful society where domestic violence no longer exists. The ACADV is a network of community-based programs that provide support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and their children. The ACADV serves domestic violence survivors statewide through shelters, a 24-hour crisis line (1-800-650-6522), legal services, and safety planning.
Programs
  • S.A.I.L. Project - This project ensures that there is a domestic violence specialist on staff in each county D.H.R. office to reach individuals who might not call the crisis hotline or visit a shelter, but still need help dealing with the effects of domestic violence in their relationship.
  • Perpetrator Intervention Programs - Classes are held for abusers that are voluntary or court-ordered to help change violent behavior.

Originally named The Freedom Source, APC has been providing support for the greater Birmingham area for over a decade.
