    • Baby Box - credited with helping Finland achieve one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world, notably when coupled with education, healthcare and community-building components

  • No Place Like Home - provides family specific services through monthly home visiting that improves or enhances parenting skills that reduce risk factors while increasing protective factors

  • Career Development - operated in partnership with TOP, the State Department of Education, and the Department of Human Resources to provide employment and educational services that enable Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) recipients and low-income groups to obtain their GED, enter a workforce development training program, enroll in a community college, or to establish and maintain employment
  • General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Classes - offered in partnership with Shelton State Community College
  • Intake - purpose of the intake and assessment procedure is to conduct a needs-based assessment of clients in order to determine if services may be provided to meet their needs

  • Tuscaloosa Encouraging Adolescents with Monitoring and Support (TEAMS) - seeks to reduce the number of juveniles being committed to the Department of Youth Services and the Tuscaloosa County Detention Center
  • Juveniles Supported Through Integrated Community Engagement (JUSTICE) - strengthens the juvenile justice system by providing interventions and support to help youth reintegrate into their community and reduce recidivism among participants

  • Assertive Community Treatment - multi-disciplinary team whose members provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support to those with a serious mental illness in a community setting
  • Bridge Team - multi-disciplinary team that primarily focuses on helping those who are in crisis or in need of more intensive services to gain or maintain stability. The team provides intensive short-term support to help each person function independently and prevent re-hospitalization
  • Mental Health Court Team - utilizes the least restrictive and most cost-efficient option judged to be effective. The team's goal: to restore and improve, decrease psychiatric hospitalization and further legal involvement
  • Case Management - provided to those who are working toward recovery but continue to require supports to maintain independent living within the community. Case managers provide links to community resources and supports that will help improve each person’s quality of life
  • Diversion Team - provides home and community-based services for people identified as being involved with legal authorities. The team also provides assessment, treatment, and recommendations in the Tuscaloosa County jail and court systems
Developmental Disabilities Programs
  • Residential - provided in small group homes and apartments. Supervision and supports are provided in a homelike atmosphere. Emphasis is placed on individualized learning opportunities and supporting activities to improve each person’s independence and quality of life
  • Day Habilitation - generate new interests, develop individual skills, and promote community awareness. Participants engage in fulfilling activities such as cooking, nutrition, and exercise to enhance independent living skills
  • Supported Employment - matches people with appropriate jobs based on the expressed interest and abilities of the individual. A job coach provides on-the-job training and support if needed
